Snow Day = Canning Day!

We knew a big storm was coming in last night, so Molly and I prepared. We didn’t stack wood. We didn’t go buy food stores. We didn’t load up on candles. What any good, All-American farm girl does when she knows she will be housebound from snow? She cans. Molly and I successfully canned nine quarts of pickled green tomatoes and fourteen half pints of jalapeno jelly for Christmas.

Tomorrow’s forecast…more snow (aka applesauce, corn and pickles)

Awesome! We put two heaters in the greenhouse last night.and the tomatoes look alive and happy this morning. I just want another couple weeks of tomatoes although your green tomatoes look great, you care to share your recipe?

I love canning. Learned when I was a young girl. You are doing well with your daughter. I made homemade chicken broth all day yesterday. I already canned tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, mexican pinto beans and jellies throught out the summer and I need the freezer space so I think I might can the chicken broth. Every done that?
Happy canning!
